Growing in the Word – Caring – Sharing – Serving – Going
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice humility. –Romans 12:9–13
The Women of Christ & Lutheran Women's Missionary Society group provides service to the congregation and organizes social activities for the ladies of the congregation. All women (teens and adults) in the congregation are invited and encouraged to participate in the group.
Service activities include care of the altar and banners; coordinating donations of altar flowers for Sunday worship services; serving refreshments for various fellowship activities including our 4th Sunday brunches in the 5-Sunday months and Lenten Soup Suppers; caring for the kitchen, linens, and tableware; caring for our members in need by providing meals or assisting in other ways; providing support to Evergreen Lutheran High School; providing support to missionaries at home and abroad through the group’s affiliation with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS); supervision and coordination of groups wishing to use the Fellowship Hall for a variety of special events such as wedding receptions and baby showers; assisting the pastors with the Prayer Line; sending care packages to troops and college students; conducting food drives; gathering donations of school supplies for the needy; participating in the the Christmas Angel Tree program sponsored by Kitsap Community Resources, and taking turns with other WELS congregations hosting workshops and rallies.
Women love to gather with one another to have fun and to express their gifts of hospitality and friendship. Social gatherings include quilting, crafting, garden parties, breakfasts, brunches and lunches, rallies, Advent services at Christmas time, and spring or fall retreats. The group has often coordinated outings to galleries, theaters and museums. Gatherings may include Bible studies, devotions, activities, lots of chatting time and of course, food. The ladies are encouraged to invite friends to activities and events. Many strong friendships have developed as the ladies work and play together while serving the Lord and one another at Christ the King.
All this is done out of love for our Lord, love for our church home — Christ the King — and love for our sisters in Christ. To God be the glory!

WEBSITE to help women learn and connect:  Check out the website which has been developed for the women of the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod):  www.wels.net/womenIt is a relatively new site.  It is hoped that you will check it regularly – it is a wonderful women's kind of place!

Moms & Friends:  “Moms & Friends” meet in on a weekday morning during the school year at 10:00am, sometimes for outings and other times in the home of one or the ladies.  They also coordinate baby and bridal showers for women of the congregation and help with Easter for Kids and Christmas for Kids.  Their first gathering for the 2010-2011 school year will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 8th, at the Bloom residence.

This group was formed for moms of preschoolers and their children, however, it has expanded to include other women who wish to share a morning of friendship with one another while the children play. The ladies and children become great and supportive friends. There is always room for more, so please feel welcome to join the group when you can.

News & Upcoming Activities & Events
(Details are published  on-line and in printed  issues of the
Sunday News & Ctk Messengers newsletters  in the weeks preceding the event)

All ladies of the congregation are invited, and encouraged to invite friends to our social activities, and to participate in service projects.

A new goal of 1,000 pounds was set January 1, 2010 for our on-going Food Drive.  Donations from members and friends of the congregation are brought to the church.  One of the ladies then delivers the items to an area food bank. In 2009 approximately 2,200 pounds of non-perishable food products and personal care products were donated.  The students of our school, Christ the King Lutheran School, also gathered donations for the Holiday Food Drive.  They made a significant contribution and helped us exceed our goal!  The Women of Christ brought personal care product donations to their Christmas party. Their generosity was awesome!

Next Business meeting will be Sunday, September 26th, at 12:30pm. All ladies, including our teens, are encouraged to attend and participate.

New Members Welcome on Saturday, October 2nd, time to be announced.  Honored guests will be all ladies new to congregation this year on.

Ladies' Christmas Party on Saturday, December 4th, 1:00-3:00pm in the church Fellowship Hall.
